Update on Tennessee Hospital Contracting

(by Dorrence Stovall, VP of Network Development at PHS)

Prime Health Services is excited to announce an improvement in our network offering in the state of Tennessee.  As many of you are aware, the Department of Labor for the State of Tennessee mandated a new Workers’ Compensation Fee Schedule

which took effect on July 1, 2005.   This new schedule mandated the maximum amount that could be paid to providers and hospitals statewide.

As you would expect, there has been much discussion about, and much outcry from all the affected provider community.  However, the greatest complaints have come from the hospitals that were affected by this schedule.

Prime Health Services is happy to report that, through our extensive discussions with Tennessee hospitals , and because of our quality clients, we have now established discounts at many of the hospitals in Tennessee below the state mandated schedule.  We closed out 2005 by concluding contracts with some 39 hospitals in Tennessee to provide discounts below the state fee schedule.

This improvement in pricing not only makes those facilities more appealing to our clients, but makes the Prime Health Services network more appealing to potential clients we are approaching.  Further, it means that there are more in-network facilities that our physicians can refer to and admit patients as needed.

We appreciate all our providers and facilities helping to make Prime Health Services one of the best PPO Networks in the USA.
