Prime Health Services Reaches Agreement with Vision Care Direct
Providing flexible and cost effective vision care to both clients and providers

Nashville, TN (July 12, 2007)Prime Health Services (Prime Health), a National Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), announced today an agreement with the medically credentialed eye physician’s networks associated with Vision Care Direct. The ophthalmologists and optometrists provide all medical, Worker’s Comp, and routine vision benefit services. Vision Care Direct (VCD) is a specially designed vision benefit plan with a variable menu of options for employer groups and individuals. VCD is doctor controlled. Doctors, with their IPAs, choose the fees to accept. This plan allows doctors to compete in the managed care arena with their own vision plan. The flexibility and cost effectiveness of these plans benefit both the patients and the member doctors.

“Prime Health Services is excited to enter into this new relationship with Vision Care Direct. They bring value to the Prime Health PPO network and to our clients by offering quality providers at discounted rates.” said Brian Sharp, CEO for Prime Health Services.

About Vision Care DirectVision Care Direct (VCD) is a voluntary vision plan with no participation requirements. The eye care professionals in our extensive national network provide local vision care in private practice settings. Our doctors primary concern is to provide their patients the best eye care possible. Prime Health and Tennessee Senate Bill 445

Current Tennessee law authorizes the commissioner of labor and workforce development, in consultation with the medical care and cost containment committee and the advisory council on workers' compensation, to establish by rule a comprehensive medical fee schedule for providers charged with provision of workers' compensation-related treatment. The comprehensive medical fee schedule does not prohibit an employer, trust or pool, or insurer from negotiating lower fees in its own medical fee agreements.

This bill, now law, requires that any fees paid for medical services furnished on or after January 1, 2008, that are lower than the fees provided in the comprehensive medical fee schedule be made pursuant only to a contract between the health care provider and the employer, trust, pool, or insurer. This bill prohibits the assignment of negotiated rates for workers' compensation services to any other party than the employer, trust, pool, or insurer who signed the contract or agreement. If there is not an existing contract, this bill requires payments to be the reimbursement rates established in the comprehensive medical fee schedule.

We believe we are in full compliance as we are directly contracted in Tennessee. Click here to read the entire bill.

PDS Health Releases Online Disease Management System

Recent studies have shown that patients using a computer to analyze their diabetes data have had much better outcomes than patients who do not. PDS Health launches an all new second generation online disease management program, www.mdmonitor.com, that involves use of a telemedicine device to amplify the effects of the glucose meter by making the results of the tests available to the patients and their designated caregivers through a password protected website and database. These results can be combined with access to electronic medical records. Patients can also connect blood pressure apparatus and a weight scale to the device for automated monitoring or the data can be submitted directly to www.mdmonitor.com by using the keypad on their phone or computer. The system offers the patient additional savings by documenting exactly how many tests they perform. The system can be used with any desired software and hardware configuration. PDS Health, Inc. is a fast growing Diabetes Disease Management and Medical Service and Supply Company focusing on the disease management while providing supplies and fulfillment programs nationwide.
